The first in a series of small clay figure paintings (roughly A3 size). It's a relief to drop down in scale after wrestling with big paintings last term. This piece took me one day compared to several weeks working on my 'Empty Chair' paintings.
Two larger figure and mirror paintings which I'll be working on in tandum over the coming weeks.
It was good to get back into some drawing after a couple of weeks preparing for the LSA Alumni Exhibition. I made a new clay figure which I made several studies of in view of starting two new paintings next week.
I spent this week hanging the LSA Alumni Show at Dovecot Studios. I was very pleased with how my six pieces looked and I received lots of encouraging feedback on the opening night. The show continues until the 31st May and I would thoroughly recommend a visit.
This week I did an extra day teaching in the school and prepared my work for the Alumni Exhibition which opens next week. I have six pieces in the show representing work I've done on the residency. Please come along on Thursday night if you are in Edinburgh.
I managed to sneek into the school for a few days during the Easter holidays. I was unhappy with the large piece I've been working on this past term so I completely reworked it... again and again.
